For the Integrated Nanosystems Development Institute, integrated nanosystems refer to systems which, while may also consist of integrated micro-, meso-, and/or macro-scale parts, their core components are realized by nano-scale materials, processes, and devices.
The development of integrated nanosystem technologies allows a wide variety of products to be realized for a broad range of applications, from health sciences to energy, and environmental to information technology. Examples include low-cost lab-on-a-chip products, innovative drug delivery systems, highly efficient fuel cells, and ever smaller and functionally powerful information technology products.
